(松下幸之助)说服力的重要——有时得说不相干的话题
有高贵情操的人，容易掌握人心，使之在一念之间软化下来。
在日常生活中，人往往会一时忘却自己身在何处，或自己究竟在做些什么，甚至有时为了应付某一种情况，而做出后悔的事情。在这种情形下，如果能够用某种方法，使自己平静下来，然后仔细分析自己，这就是一种反省。
从前由于我在松下电器公司工作的关系，曾赴欧州与人交涉。那一次的交涉很不顺利，双方都争执不下，不肯让步。甚至拍桌子互相争吵。到底为何争吵，也弄不清楚，双方激昂的情绪，弄得场面很尴尬。
由于无法解决，只好先休战散会，各自吃饭去了。吃饭之后，我到一家科学馆去看一项展览，在展览会场所看到的景象，竟影响了争执不下的争论。
在会场里，我忽然看到一个原子模型。这是个电子在核子周围转动的模型。最初，我并不了解原子，也没有这方面的知识。我请教馆内人员有关这项展示品的知识。他以铁为例，将铁细分，是很多铁分子组成；而把这些分子再细分的话，只是原子的集团；若把原子再做划分之后，则是许多电子围绕梳子运转。
在目前，这些只是一种常识而已，但在当时了解的人并不普遍。一般对铁的认识，只是表面上的，并不知道铁的内部，是如眼前所看到的模型运转现象。是谁告诉我们这一现象呢？这是由于科学的发展，进步所致。而这些科学发展的结果，是由人类去发掘、研究出来的。人类的研究能有如此伟大的成果，深深地感动我，于是我决定，在下午开会时，先将这件事情说出来。
[我刚去去科学馆看到了原子模型，心中有很大的感受。人类的进步及成果，实在是太伟大了。同时在另一方面，阿波罗十一号很快就要向月球出发，我们的科学家发展实在太迅速了，人类的智慧，真可说是发挥得淋漓尽致。
尽管如此，人与人之间的关系并没有因而改善，大家互不信任，甚而互相憎恨、打架，世界各都有战争。很多人表面上是和善的，而内心却充满了猜疑和忌恨。
我认为，人我之间应该互相信任，并能原谅对方的过错，而能共存共荣。科学不断进步，但人类的精神文明却停滞不前 。这是个很危险的讯号，如果不改善，未来可能发生人类使用核子武器相互毁灭的可怕事件。日本在不久之前，就被投下原子弹，而遭受莫大的浩劫，这就是一个历史的见证。]
跟我交涉的人员，起先不明白我到底在说些什么，感到有些莫名其妙，但他们仍然保持相当的兴趣听我说话。在我说完这些感受之后，大家的态度都缓和下来，上午僵持的气氛，在这时刻被融化了。上午拍桌子大吵，几乎使谈判决裂的状况，竟因我说的这段话而被扭转了。
而且，我一直坚持的主张，被对方接受了。
最初我并不曾想要用这些话，来达成我的愿望，只是很感慨地想将中午科学馆看到的原子模型后的心情、感想，说给在场与会的人员听听而已。意外的，听到我说话的这些人，却也改变了他们上午的固执，接受我的主张，这真是件出乎意料的事情。
究竟是怎么回事呢？我也无法回答。但很肯定地说，人的心意是可以改变的。互相憎恨、互相打斗，是情绪形于外的一种表现；互相亲密、互相握手，也是人的心理作用而已。人心彼此的变化，完全在一念之间。
领导者应如何掌握员工的心态，是一个非常重要的课题。
